Review:
A few months ago, it would have been
hard to imagine that I was not jumping with excitement at the prospect of a new
film by Christopher Nolan. But in reality, the idea of Interstellar not that I
writhed in pleasure, not only for the bright center of gravity is still fresh
in our memory. Trailers failed to impress, and not feel as if the film had nothing
new to say. Boy, I was wrong.
Nolan brand interstellar travel in space. The film is a few years in the future when the earth is ravaged by dust storms and crops grow off after another. It is clear that our planet can not sustain much longer human life. Thus, NASA sent a group of scientists on an expedition through a wormhole to another dimension to find a habitable planet.
The film establishes its own small specific abnormalities that can be distinguished from other films in the same habit. People live in a time when farmers are valued more than the engineers, when the NASA Apollo missions are widely regarded as a hoax bankrupt the Soviet Union. Crops grow out, but people still go to the stadium to watch baseball games.
Much has been said about the high level of scientific accuracy of the film, but manages most basic and not so difficult to keep track of space science. You can almost imagine Nolan red light shame, while directing a scene gives a layman's explanation of a wormhole. But despite this drawback, the film manages to stay one step ahead of most of the time.
Aside from the fact that they are incredibly beautiful face, which parts of the area so special is that they manage to increase the chance of surprise with a twist or a new theory that brings the team plans threatening. Add to that the explosions and accidents and spaceships and planets completely covered by water or snow, and very little time left when your jaw is not suspended from his mouth.
But despite the different curveballs that the film takes you, there are times when you feel that there is a twist trunk mind can not escape the corner. A Christopher Nolan film would be complete without. And man does not disappoint. It was during the climax of the film when you choose not to play safely, and the film breaks into a complicated touch that would make his own entry into force of hallucinogenic pride, and surely turn heads with theories and counter theories.
A futuristic scenario of an impending Apocalypse, with bedroom and extensive special effects that make you think would Interstellar mechanic, a personal human touch would miss out on the same path. But in fact, is probably the busiest film career of Nolan emotion. Now considered a generally accepted fact that man is a master to go to a big and interstellar space opera is extravagant. But he never loses sight of the different actors that make the show.
He and frequent collaborator / co-writer / brother Jonathan Nolan pay diligence in the development of each character. Even Matt Damon, brilliant in a small unexpected role, never appears as a cardboard cutout, although characterization, it is easy for it to be would have made a. The Nolans prove they are equally small, because they are great. They do everything to remain handcuffed during the important function of nearly three hours, and succeed in most cases.
Matthew McConaughey, fresh from their successful moves in Dallas Buyers Club and True Detective, is charged with the movie as much as the character of Cooper and actor. It is fantastic in every sequence with at; if it plays its internal conflicts characters, their dilemma to stay with family or allow them to save humanity; or a man who find increasingly that all doors to the salvation of humanity close one by one. It anchors the film through difficult times and is in the lead for the smooth sailing of the film.
Anne Hathaway plays a fellow astronaut Cooper. As always, the actress is charming and completely convincing, at best, at worst sincerely. Jessica Chastain plays the daughter McConaughey (yes) and it is fascinating as they try to do everything I can to Earth to save his comrades. The other sound line up players like the list of participants for a talent: Michael Caine, Casey Affleck, Wes Bentley, John Lithgow and Topher Grace. They manage to do a good job, given the small Screentime.
It is a human drama, a thriller-the-world, is an odyssey of space-time, is a show of action big budget, and in the end, is a hallucinogen. The only thing that is not Memento by far my favorite film of Nolan. But given the bar throughout the last film, it's not something you could stop interstellar, and neither should you. So three hours this weekend clear your schedule and be ready to blow your mind.
