Review: A reporter shoves his microphone in the face of
a man with third-degree burns asks
how you feel. Another pressure to ask the patient
why he tried to
kill himself before finally pushing
the neighborhood kids nto the hospital gurney. This
is done in the first ten minutes of
the film.
Very often I shrink as filmmakers make caricatures of the media. I usually overlook these minor incidents. However, it is difficult for me to ignore Fugly take a large part of the script goes ahead, because the writer-director eagerly dominates details. Fugly place left me annoyed. Not because it offends me as a journalist myself. But since I only hope that the director had researched better. On the one hand, camera media never allowed in the intensive care unit; At least not in the situation in the film. And most importantly, live has a lot of technique. Channels receive not only live feed directly from a camera to shoot something random. As a filmmaker who not only can make things happen for convenience for your script. What would have been acceptable had been Fugly an exaggerated satire, or one of those slapstick we have so often seen in Akshay Kumar.
Taking things for granted is only the tip of the problems. Countless directing follow goof ups.
To be honest, Fugly has a good plot. It is the story of four friends caught in the trap set by the evil police summoned Chautala. Soon these four children are just ignorant puppets in the hands of men in Khakee. They do their best, but every time I try to get rid of the land Chautala children worse off.
The problem arises when the story of one hero-villain of the story is an awareness across the country. Kabir Sadanand makes a serious attempt to take his film Rang De Basanti in space, but fails miserably. The film is supposed to be bored when creating nationalist effect. Worse, he made people laugh when he was supposed to make the audience emotionally.
Among the good things in the film are Jimmy Sheirgill, Arfi Lamba and cinematography. Newcomer Mohit Marwah has screen presence, but will have to work on their skills to become a recognized actor. Kiara also shows spark. Vijender must continue boxing.
Fugly disappoints. The first half is still fine, but the second half so completely lost. The script would have done better using some logic. This is a film that the director will have to take the fall.
