Review: US Army Major William Cage (Cruise) is not
exactly material warrior. As such relations officer
with the loose media,
he has neither the courage nor the actual fighting courage, even if it's a battle in which hangs the fate of the
world. When summoned to London
by General Brigham (Gleeson) for a briefing, you get a mission, which is a few tickets pilot lines
in Normandy, France.
Cage try to play outside Brigham to blackmail. For this, he was arrested, stripped of his rank and force ships stops at Heathrow, as an ordinary individual. It is used with J-Squad. Imitators, controlled by an entity called Omega, have taken over most of Europe. With time control powers, they can actually learn and use to use the same tactics of the man himself, even before they used.
When Alfa Mimic (stronger than ordinary mimics) is killed by Cage (who also died in the battle), his powers are transferred. Then each loop begins where Cage wakes up in a lot of luggage, meets Sergeant Farrell Bartolome (Paxton) and deployed to the front, only to die in a different way. Cage can both relive the horror of an infinite loop or he must find a way to destroy the Omega and leaves to find the loop.
GI Jane as Rita Vrataski (Blunt), who excelled in the Verdun battlefields, helps to understand the process. And then start to change things. Cage emerging as a soldier that actually has a chance to fight the enemy is fascinating. Hiroshi Sakurazaka storyteller solid sci-fi credentials and shows Cruise has yet to remove the chops with the mega action movies. Edge of Tomorrow is one of his most compelling and nuanced performances in this genre.
