Review:  A historical drama based on the fateful Roman city of the same name, director Paul WS "Pompeii" Anderson is far from the novel by Robert Harris, 2003. However, the film is different and attractive. It is a drama of revenge with a touch of romance and mask natural disaster.

The film opens with the camera mysteriously drooling over the fossilized organisms. The paved, horrible weather, pictures are accompanied by an estimate -. "In the darkness prayers for help, others to death," attributed to Pliny the Younger "They say they are accurate in terms of the history and politics of Pompeii at that time.
Located in 79,, the film rejects the argument of the novel and invents its own set of characters. It follows Milo (Kit Harington), a "slave Celta. He is the last survivor of his tribe, the Cavaliers. "

As a young child, Milo survived the massacre by the following organizations undervalued, as he watched his mother and his tribe corrupted by the Roman general Corvus (Kiefer Sutherland) and his assistant Proculo (Sasha Roiz) are slaughtered.

Seventeen years later, the boy, trained to be a deadly gladiator, is the star player in the sand Londinium, the capital of Brittany. Soon his greedy M. The package outside the city of Pompeii that violent entertainment to serve their citizens thirsty of blood.

On the way to Pompeii, by chance met Milo and impress Cassia (Emily Browning), the maverick main town girl Severo (Jared Harris) and his wife Aurelia (Carrie-Anne Moss), directed by home after spending a year eventful in Rome.

Meanwhile Corvus also arrived in Pompeii as Senator Titus, and is the decisive factor Roma investments. He skillfully gets Severus to marry his daughter to him.

Milo comes in Pompeii, on the eve of the feast Vinalia and Flaunt were civilians. The next day, is expected to fight against the local champion - massive black slave named Atticus (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), which is almost a last death-match away to secure his release.

With fights of fatal sword in the sand of gladiators, the love triangle, including lawsuits horse and deadly deaf Vesuvius, followed by a tsunami, drives the story that keeps you write together and glued to your seat.

Regarding the procedure, it is nothing special. The characters are instantly recognizable as sympathetic or not, in general, not a lot of complexity in the character development.

Although the novel could be generic and gladiator fights seem to be liberally borrowed from movies like "Gladiator" and "The legend of Hercules" there is a certain freshness in the action scenes. The sword fights and chases are well designed and choreographed.

The scenario of Janet Scott Batchler Lee Batchler and Michael Robert Johnson, is clear and sharp. Tension rose carefully and precisely on the day of judgment build effect. Although the event is predictable, the appearance of visual elements of 3D Glen MacPherson's beautiful. They combine beautifully with computer-generated special effects of the volcanic eruption, tsunami and the disposal of the land.
